Witchtiger "Warlords of Destruction 2004-2014" CD

After 10 years since the mystical formation, the formidable u/g Finnish entity called Witchtiger, which features members of Evoked Curse, Slugathor & Evil Angel, has compiled an album that is filled with some of their best music written so far. 14 songs of great doom-influenced traditional heavy metal for the soulful maniacs into classic bands such as Black Sabbath, Saxon, Iron Maiden, Manilla Road & Pagan Altar! 

Now here's something to my liking; the Finnish flag-bearers of early proto-Doom and vintage Heavy Metal, Witchtiger, have put out some of their rare demo and cassette-EP tracks. Thanks to Hungarian underground label Metal Ör Die Records for understanding the true quality of the band's material. Warlords of Destruction 2004-2014, as the album title already kindly points out, covers material from Witchtiger's 10-year existence. The band's 70's and 80's mishmash of back-to-the-roots Doom and Heavy Metal has something really authentic sounding to it and Witchtiger sound like they have recorded these songs live when jamming together at a band rehearsal. They have built up a mysterious aura all the stuff they have churned out thus far. Perhaps one of the reasons for that is all of their material has only been available in ridiculously limited quantities. It's a relatively easy marketing trick to create the illusion of a mysterious and obscure Metal act, isn't it? Dropping names of bands similar to Witchtiger would also be effortless but instead of going that route I would rather let your imagination wander back to the 70's and 80's world of underground Doom and Heavy Metal. I bet you will be able to dig up plenty of comparisons to Witchtiger. This is a great compilation album of some of Witchtiger's past and (nearly) current material. You should seriously consider checking it out unless bands like Linkin Park or Nickelback are some of your favorites these days.
