Agressor "Neverending Destiny" CD

Descripción Named after a Hellhammer song, Agressor blasts onto the scene with a misspelled name and a powerful beginning. I've read other reviews and heard a lot of different things about this band, though now I've finally acquired their 1990 debut Neverending Destiny I can finally say I'm confused. Though, haven't heard anything else so it's plausible they've changed significantly, but the metal I'm hearing on this album isn't quite like a lot of the other stuff I've heard being said about them. Let's go ahead and get this out of the way, Neverending Destiny is fast, yes I mean really fucking fast! So speed freaks tighten up your boot straps and get your leather jackets this shit is for you!
Neverending Destiny opens up with a bang and doesn't relent. Fast as lightning riffs and intense drumming keeps the pace going with low growled vocals and intense bass lines. Often reminiscent of Sodom's early days and The Crown, Agressor show off a primitive and powerful style of death/thrash metal. No, it's not really primitive like Hellhammer and early proto-death metal bands, but it's definitely got the old school sound everyone fucking loves. All but one song under 5 minutes, keeping the pace fast and the attitude dirty, the songs are chock full of every old schooler's dream. The production isn't the best, though far from the worst, Neverending Destiny keeps the old school feel while still allowing the listener to appreciate the raw frenzy. The longest track on the album, Dark Power, starts off rather slow compared to everything else, then lapses itself back into a strong riff while everything comes together in a headbanging fury.
Songs like Bloodfeast and Bloody Corpse are pure old school thrashers, with a death metal feel. Released in 1990, alongside Sodom's heaviest to date Tapping the Vein... Neverending Destiny is a solid addition to your collection. You know Nocturnal Breed, Hypnosia, Toxic Holocaust and Assorted Heap? Yeah Agressor will fit in just well with those bands. Death/thrash is still somewhat of an ambiguous term, as there are the bands that are prominent on either side. Agressor is closely linked to Sodom with deeper slightly lower vocals, fitting as a perfect contemporary to Tapping the Vein. Agressor has been claimed to be a straight up death metal band, or a strangely unique band on it's own, but all I hear here is straight to the point death/thrash metal much like early Sodom. While not wholly unique and stand out, Agressor have some killer fucking riffs and intensity on display, this album never lets up as it shouldn't and kicks my fucking ass with each listen.
