The Mexican Answer to SARGEIST & BEHEXEN !!!
Always on the hunt for the best in the black metal underground, MORIBUND RECORDS is proud to present LUCIFERIAN RITES' debut for the label, “When the Light Dies”. An otherwise-undiscovered gem in the darkest BM underground, LUCIFERIAN RITES hail from Mexico and have one previous full-length (Evangelion of the Black Misanthropy) to their name. Now, with “When the Light Dies”, the quartet are prepared to take their freezing-cold attack to wider audiences. Despite their geography, LUCIFERIAN RITES here extract the most potent elements of classic Finnish and Polish black metal, distilling each chilling essence into a sorcerous spell that's as authentic as it comes. And yet the band back up their blasphemous ruminations with an ever-insistent pulse and alternately melancholic/majestic riffing that could've come straight from 1995. Bolstered by a production that balances rawness and well-roundedness, “When the Light Dies” will surely make a rightful name for LUCIFERIAN RITES. Be prepared for When the Light Dies!
* Highly anticipated second album form the Cult Mexican band !!!
* Grim “corpse paint” cover art that will attract all Black Metal fans.

* Mandatory for fans of Sargeist, Behexen, Darkthrone, Inquisition, Vardan, Veles and Horna.

Hailing from Mexico, a country that has a strong black metal underground, the trio Luciferian Rites have just released the second album “When The Light Dies” via Moribund Records.
Fomenting the less raw, yet dark, side of black metal, Luciferian Rite’s sound is majorly melodic, but it also presents melancholic incursions without entirely reaching black metal’s depressive vein. The music delivered by these Mexicans is not that oppressive and highly rabid black metal; on the contrary, the band shows a more luminous and wider aspect. Still, the acute screeches performed by the vocalist Count Shadow exhibit coldness and some suffering that can be transformed into hellish rage.
The songs’ fast-tempo is generally provided by the drums that are comprised by some intelligent drumming rolls, but we can also find slower moments that praise the more melancholic passages. The drumming work is very precise and strong not only due to the good skills of the drummer Antichrist, but also due to the nice production they’ve achieved. The guitar riffs aren’t complex at all, but they are very well executed – simplicity can also be something good. The whole melody exists because of Abomination’s guitar that even breathing bleakness, it’s possible to create beautiful and touching soundscapes, almost ethereal. And when it’s not the drums that change a song’s direction, the guitar comes to surface with a new riff in order to modify the song itself.
In spite of all the previous compliments, there’s also a negative part in this record because of the homogeneity that’s felt while the album goes on. In fact, the guitar riffs are really good, but they don’t evolve into something superior or different since they wander around the same creative circle from the beginning to the end – this is the band’s trademark and it doesn’t take off their talent nor the good record that “When The Light Dies” is. Also, let’s say that this album is highly suitable for the fans of Sargeist.
