We are honored to bring you a vinyl re-release of the 1990 debut album by South American deathrash pioneers Sextrash. Among the most influential Brazilian artists, together with Sarcófago, Holocausto, Vulcano and Dorsal Atlântica. Cult in in every way - from the music to the artwork!
The good XXX EP already showed us a good band from Brazil, mostly influenced by Sarcofago but anyway quite original and truly brutal. This “Sexual Carnage” begins exactly where the first EP ended: pure death/thrash metal with various blast beats. The production is a bit more powerful but always raw as fuck with chaotic sounds during the blast beats where the mixture of fast guitars and the pounding snare drum creates a real wall of sound.
The intro is quite gloom and the following track is mostly fast as a train with weird guitars parts too, high pitched with lots of palm muting and paused chords. The riff on “Delirium Tremens” is a bit different with a black touch, totally Sarcofago worshipper. The vocals too are not excessive in growls or screams but more death/thrash. Some good, more melodic solos give to the sound a more mature approach breaking the intensity a bit.
The guitars players are really restless with the palm muting and the galloping rhythmic riffage. The growls are occasional and the third “The Insatiable Pleasure Of Delight” is an example of that at the beginning. Sometimes we can find the classic out of the blue solos-whistles during the song…well, this bothers me a bit because sometimes among all that mess created by the instruments you don’t want such loud sounds to cover the other ones.
With “Seduced By Evil” it’s like listening to Sepultura in a mix of sounds between “Morbid Visions” An “Schizophrenia”! Good the tapping solos on it, showing that their not wanky
musicians. “Alcoholic Mosh” is pure madness with a great hardcore touch and seems like to listen to S.O.D. on thrash/death!
If you find anyone who says that the main riff on “Black Church” is not black metal, you must kill him with no mercy…pure evil sounds! The drummer in these last songs delivers blast beats all over and the only mid paced part is the beginning to “Night Pigs” that features keys sounds too. Overall, this is their best and it’s recommended to any death/thrash fans who wants his ears to bleed.
