Triste "Audial Suicide" Cassette

To be honest, I had never heard of this Triste, and only stumbled upon them while looking for Trist. France seems to breed the sickest and melancholic BM these days, and Triste are certailnly no exception.
This is definitely of the melancholic, suicidal, school of BM that has risen to popularity of late. I wouldn't even call it that original, it just what they do with the elements that have already been presented to them. If you are a fan of said genre, then you will recognize bits of Hypothermia, Nocturnal Depression, Shining, and the similarly namned Trist in this disc. Since there are only 3 tracks on this disc, I will give an opinion on each:
Failure, is the longest track clocking in a 13:17, and in my opinion is great!! It starts out blasting, but doesn't stay that way long. Within a minute or two, it moves into a slow, almost out of tune, Jandek moment. Then back to the blasting,and if there is any downside to this song, it's that it follows that same movement of fast part then slow part throughout the duration of the song.
Untitled, is the second track, and begins like something off of Burzum's opus Filosofem, as played by Hypothermia. The vocals are of the inhuman Burzum/Akitsa "screech" variety, but it never overpowers the music, and makes it a nuissance to listen to. There is a very cool acoustic break near the end of the track, that serves to break up the intensity a bit.
Last but not least, is Lacrymal, the final track on this disc. Very Shining-esque, in the music, but manages to have a sound of it's own. Just over the 3 minute mark, this song breaks down into an almost indie-rock like vibe. The same sort of thing that Lifelover has been winning accolades for.
It may seem that this disc could be just a mixture of the earlier mentioned bands influence, but Triste take and tried and true formula, and make an all new beast out of it. For fans of any of the bands that I mentioned above!
