"Talking of Graveyard, not only is Bastard once again sitting in the producer’s chair in Devotion’s case but they’ve snatched their bass player Julkarn too for their debut, ‘Necrophiliac Cults’ [7, Pathologically Explicit], a somewhat classic sounding yet pretty suffocating album, thanks to the impressive growls of Vicent Riera, former Obscure vocalist, one of Valencia’s oldest death metal act. Instead of over-complicating things, they’ve opted to go for a quite straight-forward approach à la Bolt Thrower but have more doomy parts, effectively underlined by a few discreet yet very effective synth layers, reminiscent of mid-’90s Dutch one hit wonder Phlebotomized. Worth checking out.
